Our Wedding .:: party time ::.

This is it dolls…this is the final of the posts for the Bassim & Moni wedding extravaganza! I really hope you guys enjoyed it…Our reception had a traditional Zaffa entrance which involves a musical procession of drums, bagpipes, horns, belly dancers and men carrying swords. This announces that the marriage is about to begin. Our reception colors were pewter grey, ivory and pops of Tiffany blue. Okay so lets get this party started. The only thing we set in stone about the reception was that we wanted everyone to have a blast…we feel like we succeeded with this mission because our friends and family were shaking their badonka donks all night long!

We were so thankful for our amazing bridal party and family who made the day so much sweeter for us so I had to have a post just for them in all of their hottness :) We told our awesome photographers Klyment Tan & Dongbu San that we didn’t want the typical, over posey, bridal party portraits so we just went with the flow and we were so happy with the results!

Our Wedding .:: persian ceremony ::.

There were a lot of memorable moments for me but my favorite part of the day was definitely our Persian ceremony and the vows we shared with one another! The Persian ceremony aka The Sofreh Aghd is an ancient Persian ritual of getting married while seated in front of a spread of symbolic items, such as honey, apples, spices and family heirlooms. During the ceremony the bride’s closest friends hold a silk lace fabric over the couples head and shower them in sugar flakes. The highlight of the ceremony was definitely my husband. My juju Bassim spoke with such conviction and love, placing me in a state of 1. Shock, because he rarely gets emotional and 2. Thankfulness to be his best friend and wife. Our love grew leaps and bounds that day and it continues to do so every day in all different ways. We were so thankful for our friends and family who showed us great support, love and joy throughout the entire wedding day! We were truly blessed. The ceremony was perfection. I was also so blessed to have one of my bff’s standing next to us as our officiant. There was nothing but sweet, poetic justice in that room. Now, for all the sweet details :) When it came to designing my Sofreh (Table Spread) I knew I wanted a cleaner, simpler look than the traditional, gaudy Persian Sofrehs I have seen. Everything on that spread was hand picked with love. Whether it was the random vases & bottles I snatched from random vintage/thrift stores or the carefully packed sugar cones from my beautiful family Iran…It was all there and it was all filled with love. I wanted the table to be surrounded by peonies but they weren’t in stock :( so to turn my frown upside down we used the most gorgeous garden roses and carnations I had ever seen. Absolute perfection!!!!
